Pilates

Pilates is a great form of exercise that emphasises slow controlled movements to strengthen your body from the inside out.

Pilates is suitable for everybody and aims to improve the flexibility and strength of your whole body.  It is recommended by osteopaths, physiotherapists and general practitioners as one of the safest forms of exercise today.

In particular Pilates can be especially good for people suffering from back pain, to support other fitness training/sport, for older adults, for antenatal and post-natal women, to aid rehabilitation from surgery/injury, for those with poor posture - especially when caused by lifestyle/ work or if you just want a flat stomach!

In summary the benefits of Pilates include:

  • Improved posture, balance and co-ordination;
  • Strengthened and toned abdominals;
  • Relief from back pain and joint aches (knees, shoulders, etc); and
  • Relief from stress.
